Happy Birthday Butterflies

Isn't it nice when something comes together just like you envisioned? I've had these three butterflies sitting on my desk for the better part of a year. I know, what took me so long eh? Anyways, as soon as I received the Elementary Elegance stamp set I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the lonely butterflies, and now they have a home. :)

I've been seeing some really simple and elegant cards on Pinterest lately and got totally inspired. I'm pleased with how my cards turned out too. The showstopper and focal point of these cards are those colourful butterflies! Super easy to make with your Big Shot!

So Grateful

My brother-in-law is in for a super big treat tonight. Through friends of my Mom, he received 4 complimentary tickets to the Bryan Adams show tonight...in Tokyo! Needless to say, we are SO grateful to the people who made this possible. So of course in true Stampin' Up! Demonstrator fashion, I wanted to make them a card. ;)

I did some layering with my markers to create a painted look on the flowers.

To create this look at home you'll need a selection of makers in the same colour (I used pinks) in a variety of hues. (You can see the exact colours I used in the supply list below.) Start with your lightest colour, and colour in the flower. Work using your lightest to darkest markers, and keep layering the ink colours one on top of one the other, but still leaving the previous colour layers exposed in places. Throughout the process be sure to use your blender pen to blend the colours together. It takes some practice, and I'm certainly no expert, but I hope you'll try it.

Mini File Folio Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope the most important person in your life is making you feel loved. I'll be spoiling my wonderful husband today with a few of his favourite treats and giving him this Mini File Folio filled with little notes and trinkets to show him just how much he means to me. I took these pictures before I did all the personalizing to make this a special gift for him, so you'll see this as a blank canvas.

This folio has 6 pockets, perfect to slide a piece of cardstock into. I used mine to write my hubby some love notes, but you could use them for pictures, movie ticket stubs, or favourite quotes.

I really love the little flags that hang from each pocket with a mini safety pin. Each one is different, and totally cute!

The finishing touch is this adorable belly band to hold the folio closed.

I sure hope he likes it! I'm pleased with how it turned out!

The list of supplies to make this little cutie is quite daunting, so I'm going to just list the basics of what you'll need to create a project with the same feel. No tools, just the consumables.

Stampin' Up! Embellishment Storage

Stampin' Up! has a really great tabletop embellishment storage system, but what do you do if you're out of desk space? I found myself in this very predicament on Saturday. I've been doing some organizing and the state of my embellishments was appalling. I got out this magnetic board that has been collecting dust for quite some time beside my desk (originally from Ikea) and decided to come up with a solution.

Stampin' Up! embellishments already come in these fantastic storage containers, so it was a no brainer to just add some magnetic sheet to the tops of the lids and voila! SUPER easy! Use the Circles #2 die for cutting the magnet sheet, the largest circle fits perfectly!

I LOVE that I can see through the containers. Now when I'm doing my ordering I can see at a glance what I'm getting low on. Big time saver!

Valentine Treat Bags, a la Justin Bieber

The other night I couldn't sleep. When I can't sleep I usually put the TV on and turn it to something that I don't really want to watch, and before long I'm asleep. I took a short tour around Netflix and figured that the Justin Bieber movie, Never Say Never, ought to do the trick.

So before I get massive amounts of hate mail in my inbox, I'm not saying I don't like Justin Bieber (I did buy his Christmas CD and listen to 'Mistletoe' on repeat after all), I just wasn't thrilled about watching the movie. Well, let me tell you, it didn't put me to sleep at all. I was inspired by his positive outlook on life and his ability to believe in his dreams.

I also learned that girls of all ages are obsessed with him, much like I was obsessed with New Kids on the Block in my day (I'm dating myself with that one!) So when I sat down to make some Valentines treats for some young kids this week I thought, what would Justin Bieber do? I learned in the movie that his favourite colour is purple, so these are my Valentine treat bags, a la Justin Bieber. :)

I got the purple chocolate hearts at Superstore and put them in the 3 x 5 Cellophane Bags. I made the cute little bag toppers with the Labels Framelits dies for the Big Shot. The third largest die fits the Cellophane Bags perfectly! I think the most adorable thing about these is the punched out DSP heart with the Sweet Shop Jelly Bean Brad. So cute!

Creative Journal & Demonstrator Fun Night!

My Creative Journal

Thursday night was SO amazing! I had a few of my local downline (and some to-be downline) over for a short meeting followed by a few hours of creating. These ladies are such a pleasure to be around. I love chatting with them and hearing their ideas and watching them grow as demonstrators. I have a fabulous team, thank you so much for coming over girls. :)

So what were we creating? Just the cutest journal covers ever! I made a sample before the girls came over so they had a little inspiration if they wanted. I'm especially fond of the little crown and the punched out flower.

The girls made some outstanding covers too! A few of them mentioned that they were going to add some things when they got home, so I can't wait to see the finished cover when they come back next time! Check out their creations:

Petal Cone Die Pocket Card

So yesterday I told you I had plans to do some baking. Well, those plans went quickly haywire when I realized I forgot to take the butter out of the freezer the night before! Just one little thing can really put a kink in the day. ;) We'll see if I have any time today.

This card is one that has been sitting on my desk ready to be assembled for a LONG time. I made the little pocket with the Petal Cone Die, and then it sat there, and sat there, and sat there. I finally got that little pocket a home and mounted it on a super simple card base. Don't you think this would be a much cuter way to give money than a bill inside the envelope?!

The little pocket would be perfect for a lollipop, gift card, or concert tickets too! Gotta love that Petal Cone Die! So versatile!

Um, so where did Monday go? I think I blinked and it was over. I try to set up my blog posts the night before so you early risers have some creative inspiration first thing in the morning, but Monday snuck away from me and I didn't get time. Sorry about that.

Today's card was cased from Kristen Nicole Cunningham. She made a really pretty version in yellow, but I wanted mine to be a little more masculine, so I did it in browns. January Stamp Club Projects

This past weekend I had my Stamp Club ladies over! It's always SO fun! I know I say that every month, but it's true! They really are a blast! We are nearing the end of our current round, so that means we'll have a new group starting in April (which is filling very quickly!). Our technique this month was Faux Tile. This is SO easy with the Simply Scored Tool! And it looks pretty too!

We played with the Hearts Framelits dies that are new for the Big Shot and wowie, those ladies loved em! I'm not surprised, they're awesome!

This card was inspired by my friend Lisa, and she found it on Pinterest. So who knows who made the original, but thank you to whomever did!

I (Heart) Hearts 5 Minute Valentine

Last night I was at my upline Kristine's house for a meeting. So fun! I did a presentation to show my winning card from Leadership, and I was a little bit nervous, but everything went smoothly. Today I've got a busy day today as well, so I thought what a perfect time to share a super easy, make in under 5 minutes card that everyone can duplicate with whatever they have at home. I added a few lines of embossing on the bottom of my card with my Big Shot, but if you don't have one then just omit that part.

I did the rock n roll technique on my heart image, super quick and easy. Simply ink up your stamp in a light coloured ink, and then roll the edges of your stamp in a darker coloured ink. Stamp onto cardstock.

So if you have some cardstock, thread or ribbon, a button, a stamp set and some ink, you can make this style of card in 5 minutes or less at home, I promise! Here's the supplies I used to make mine:

Paper: Very Vanilla Cardstock

Leadership 2012 - Stampin' Up! Displays

Today is a day of travel, so I'm on my way home soon. I have really enjoyed this trip and I'm sad to be leaving the beautiful (and SUNNY) city of San Antonio. I do miss my husband and my dog, but I was thinking they could come here and we could skip the rest of winter in Calgary, somehow I don't think that will work out....

The displays and the Leadership Conference were AMAZING! It's truly breathtaking when you see it all there. I hope you enjoy some of my favourite pictures. :)

I've got lots more pictures to share with you of the displays, but that will have to wait until another day. I've got to catch a taxi to the airport!

Leadership 2012 - end of Day 3 & Card Contest Displays

The closing session of the Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference in San Antonio was such a treat. We were spoiled with a fantastic stamping presentation by none other than the charismatic and creative Shelli.

She was just as excited as all of us. ;)

Shelli used the Apothecary Art stamp set and the Framelits Dies for her projects, and let me tell you, these are must haves! Check out all her lovely ideas...

I'll try and do a video when I get home on how to make this little pouch, it's really cool!

Shelli is all about the layers! So it was fun to watch her create this card on stage and hear some of her tips of adhering so many layers together. It's sticky strip baby!

This card is absolutely to die for! So much texture and layering. The inside is a total wow too!

This next card is so so cute, it actually has a tea bag tucked in the front of it! And FYI, Shelli's favourite tea is Choice: Organic Liquorice Peppermint. ;)

Aren't Shelli's creations amazing?!!? It's really no surprise that Stampin' Up! has the best crafting products on the market, look at how creative our leader is!

And let's not forget all my demonstrator friends out there! They're talented and inspiring too. There were LOTS and LOTS of beautiful cards entered in the Leadership Stamping Contest, here's a few that caught my eye.

After the conference wrapped up and we said goodbye to some of our demonstrator friends, we decided to walk along the river and find somewhere to eat dinner. I quickly googled local restaurants and one called 'The Republic of Texas' seemed pretty well reviewed. Well, it was awesome! And we got a beautiful table right along the river's edge. What a lovely night!

Well, I should say that it was lovely right up until our walk back to the hotel. We had a run in with a RAT! We were walking along the river and there was a passageway that had walls on both sides and was pretty dark. As soon as we entered the passage, this furry thing with a long tail scurried out of the shadows and right in front of us! I freaked and wanted to turn around and go the other way. Well 'the other way' was the opposite direction of our hotel and going to be a really really long walk back. So they made me walk through! Well, run through! I was running like the wind! Never a dull moment...

Leadership 2012 - end of Day 2 & some of Day 3

Oh my goodness I just have SO much to share with you! I left off my last post with the end of organized events on Day 2, but I HAVE to tell you about our fabulous dinner too! We walked a few blocks to a restaurant called Rosario's.

WOW! It was amazing!!! If you are ever in San Antonio you have to go here! The chips and salsa on the table were out of this world.

I couldn't decide what I wanted to eat, so I was excited when the waitress said we could get bits of whatever we wanted from each menu item...I had a little bit of everything as you can see...

Oh those fish tacos.....I will dream of them for many months and years to come. And I was lucky enough to share this awesome dinner with my travelling BFF's.

After dinner we went for a stroll on the River Walk and happened upon something pretty marvelous. Ty Pennington and the Extreme Home Makeover team were shooting an episode! It was funny to see that everything was all decorated for Christmas and there was even a Christmas river boat parade. I guess this episode is for next season. So much for the 'reality' of reality tv. :)

I assume the home was given to a member of the military as there were many many boats filled with military personnel. It was super cool. But after that we were off to bed as day 3 started early. :)

Day 3 was filled with more fun! We were up and ready to rock bright and early. This is Christine and I (after our coffees had kicked in!)

We started the day with a HILARIOUS presentation from Scott Nielsen the Chief Financial Officer of Stampin' Up! Oh my word! He is AMAZING! The first part of his presentation was a take on the Mr.Roger's television show. We were rolling in the aisles laughing!

Speedy Delivery even showed up! Oh this was so fun!

Oh, and Scott gave us presents too. :)

The afternoon was filled with classes to help us with our businesses. I chose classes that were specific areas I feel I need to work on, remember I'm doing this 'My Way' after all. ;)

Leadership 2012 - Day 2

The theme at Stampin' Up! Leadership 2012 in San Antonio is 'My Way', and today we really figured out what that meant. It's not a 'my way or the highway' kind of thing, but just simply that as demonstrators we can choose to run our businesses in our own way and we can all be successful. It's so wonderful to be part of a company that recognizes that we are all individuals with strengths and weaknesses and that our individual businesses do not have to be cookie cutter duplications of some manual or guideline. What an empowering morning!!!

Shelli was there to share her inspiration and ideas with us, and she is always SO fabulous to listen to. I could listen to her all day. Never in my life have I met someone so genuine and caring.

Oh, and she shared some amazing news! If you're a demonstrator, or are about to come one (hint hint, major signing bonuses during Sale-a-bration starting Jan.24) Stampin' Up! is renovating the Stampin' Success Magazine that is exclusive to demonstrators. I. AM. SO. EXCITED. They showed a few snippets of the new artwork and articles:

And in true Stampin' Up! fashion, Shelli gave us all a present! A BEAUTIFUL stamp set, and most exciting, it's from the new catalogue! I can't share the actual stamp set, but look at the excitement on my face!

I HAVE to share this next picture with you, but I can't really tell you what it's all about. I know, so mean right?! Long story short, Donna Griffith unveiled a new product that will be available March 1st, and when she did that a bunch of Stampin' Up! employees come out on stage and did a dance routine to celebrate it's unveiling. I was in stitches laughing myself off my chair!

So after the dance crew had vacated the stage, Donna sat down to do a stamping presentation for us. I LOVE Donna's presentations, check out her awesome ideas:

Shelli's daughter Sarah shared some cute Valentines projects she made for her children. I love the simple beauty of them.

And because Sarah wants to be just like her Mom, she gave us a present too!! Man I love those Gardner girls!!!!

After a yummy lunch, it was off to the Share Fair. We had the wonderful opportunity to listen to other demonstrators share their experiences and 'their way'. My favourite was by my long time blog hero Dawn Griffith. I just had to sneak a picture with her!

Dawn is a wonderful, inspiring woman who is genuine and charismatic. It was an honour to chat with her and thank her for all her fabulous inspiration. A highlight of my day!

I spent a little time meandering through the display area before we left the convention centre, but I'll share those pictures with you tomorrow. This girl has to hit the pillow!

Leadership 2012 - Gifts for My Friends

Before I left for Leadership in San Antonio I made a few little gifties for my friends. I got these clear photo cases at the local discount store and decorated the outside.

I used some of my favourite goodies to make these. The You're My Type stamp set, Labels Framelits, and lots of sponging with Crumb Cake of course!

Inside each case was a notebook, pencil, and a package of Nerds.

I think they liked them. :)

Leadership 2012 - Day 1 cont - Manager's Reception!

The week before Christmas I got the most beautiful invitation in the mail to attend Manager's Reception at Leadership. You know when you get an amazing invitation like this one that you are in for an AMAZING night, and did Stampin' Up! ever deliver!

We walked into the most breathtakingly decorated corridor and reception room where we enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and chatted with our demonstrator friends.

Aren't Kim and Kristine adorable?! You know you have a great friend when they will hand feed you noodles!

So after our mingling session we went into the theatre for our entertainment of the evening. It was our first greeting from the infamous Shelli too.

We watched an amazing performance by Chinese Acrobats. The things these people could do were out of this world. I was sitting on the edge of my seat for the majority of the time.

You can see how much fun we had from the massive smiles on our faces! We were treated like royalty!

Oh, and we got a new stamp set! :) But it's from the NEW Summer Mini Catalogue, so I can't show you just yet. ;) I can however share these adorable chopsticks...

This spoiled rotten girl is going to bed! I'm excited for another fabulous day tomorrow!

Leadership 2012 - Day 1

After a good night's sleep and a little bit of a sleep in, we were ready to take Leadership head on! Oh and was day 1 ever amazing!!! First thing was getting 'the bag'. When you go to a Stampin' Up! event (Leadership and Convention) there is always a bag, and the one this year is FABULOUS!!!

Shortly thereafter we headed off to make n takes, where there were more beautiful gifts waiting for us! A wallet/portfolio folio to match our beautiful bags.

And you can't forget all the loot they gave us to complete our make n takes. There weren't just snippets of ribbons and buttons, oh no, full packages of all the supplies we needed! Two stamp sets too!

Stampin' Up! really outdid themselves again, and the make n takes were breathtaking!!!

We didn't finish all of our projects, but we did a large majority. Thankfully they had this beautiful display with all of the projects completed so I can show you.

After make n takes it was off to lunch. We went a yummy pizza place, PizzaRita's.

So cheesy...

After lunch we were up for a walk, so we went up to the Alamo. We didn't have much time there, but it was really cool.

Then we took a stroll along the River Walk back to our hotel. It's so so pretty here.

I've got to run! I'm off to Manager's Reception tonight! I can't wait!!!!

I'm HERE!

Without any travel delays or mishaps, we have arrived in San Antonio safely! It's a beautiful city, with GREEN! Green grass, green shrubs, even flowers! We went for a walk this afternoon and there were whole gardens full of pansies. So so pretty. A far cry from the -29C and snow we left this morning!

There is a Riverwalk pathway right outside our hotel that curls and follows this lazy winding river with shops and restaurants lining each side. It was nice to go for a little stroll after spending so many hours sitting on the plane. We stopped in at one of the restaurants at the recommendation of some demonstrator friends and had an Italian dinner. Super yummy. Here's a picture of the view from our table.

We're staying in style this trip too! The Grand Hyatt in San Antonio is amazing! The view out our room window is breathtaking!

I don't know what that tower is, but it looks oddly similar to the Calgary tower. Our taxi driver told us this one has a seafood restaurant at the top, in Calgary it's a steak restaurant. Funny. :)

I promise I'll have lots more pictures for you tomorrow! I've got make n takes in the morning, an afternoon of exploring, and then Manager's Reception tomorrow evening! Oh, and I still have to show you the gifts I've made for my friends, but I have to give a few out still. :)

Travel Day

Well, I'm on my way this morning. My flight leaves at 7:05am, which means getting to the airport at 5am, and leaving the house just after 4am. It's currently -27C (I'm writing this Monday night) and I'm very much looking forward to a 50C jump in temperature to the +23C that's expected in San Antonio. Wish me luck, there's snow in the forecast, so anything can happen!

If you're in Calgary (or anywhere in Alberta really) be sure to travel with a charged cell phone and leave lots of time to get to your destination. Things are slippery out there.

Leadership 2012 Swap Card #2

Something very weird happened yesterday. I had an abundance of time. So much time in fact that once I finished 25 or so of the swap card I showed you yesterday that I sat down and did 30 of this new one. Weird. I'm usually scrambling. I guess today is the day I remember all the things I haven't done. Oh please let the list be short!

Anyways, onto the card. This one uses the new Send Me Soaring stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalogue. Ok, don't judge me, but I originally bought this stamp set for the clouds. I know, it seems a little over the top to buy a whole stamp set just for one image, but I really really really like those clouds! And of course once I had that new rubber in my hot little hands I started to play, and now I love the rest of the images too! :)

Leadership 2012 Swap Card

So what do you think? I'm going to say simple, yet elegant. I hope my demonstrator friends think so too! I'll be taking who knows how many of these to Stampin' Up! Leadership 2012 in San Antonio this week to swap with my demo besties for their beautiful creations.

I think a pretty embellishment makes all the difference, and this little flower is no exception! I LOVE it! Super easy too. Just use your Boho Blossoms Punch to get your three flower shapes, ink up the edges with some Crumb Cake Classic Ink, glue the layers together with some Tombow Liquid Glue, add a Basic Pearl for the centre, and VOILA!

Gnome Sweet Gnome - the non-swap card

I sat down in my Stamp Room yesterday afternoon with the intention of creating a template for my Leadership 2012 swap card. I had good intentions, really good. However, one thing led to another and before I knew it I was paper piecing like a maniac, sponging with multiple inks, and highlighting with my gel pen.

So although I think this card is ADORABLE, it is sooooooo not a good choice for a swap! Considering this one card took me over an hour to create, it is not the prime candidate for a mass production operation.

Bordering on Romance, Some Watercolouring & the NEW Framelits!

So as you can see from my title, although this is a really simple card, it's kind of got a lot going on! I got the Bordering on Romance stamp set free from Stampin' Up! in December (SO many lovely perks to being a demonstrator!) so I thought it was time that this baby saw some ink!

And get inky it did! I stamped my images in Black StazOn and then used my Blender Pen and Classic Ink Pads to do some watercolouring. I guess it's not technically watercolouring, as I didn't use any water, but I get the best results with this technique. (I'll try and shoot a video for you before I leave for Leadership.)

Then I used my new Labels Framelits dies to die cut my focal image. Wanna know what's really awesome? You can place these dies perfectly over your image and cut out exactly what you want because they are thin metal frames with a completely hollow centre.! They are so awesome!

Vintage Just My Type & a Video

Happy Monday! I hope you had a lovely weekend. We sure did! Saturday was spent doing the errands like groceries and washing the car, and then Sunday I got to spend ALL DAY in my Stamp Room! It's such a treat to spend an uninterrupted day creating with all my treasures. AND I had time to shoot a video for you!

Today's card is one I made by casing my own cards that I made last week, HERE and HERE. I took the ribbon from one card and the stamp set and layout from another, and voila! Speaking of ribbon, my video will show you how to make the scrunchy seam binding bow on today's card. I hope you like it!

Oh those candy hearts...I don't really know why, but I really love them. They don't really taste all that good (let's face it, they're pretty gross), but I really really love reading the messages! Weird, I know. Anyways, when I saw the Candy Conversations stamp set in the Stampin' Up! 2012 Occasions Mini Catalogue I was thrilled! It's a single stamp, which I love, so you can dabble in Valentines creations, but don't have to make a big purchase commitment. :)

Oh, and this ribbon! It's BEAUTIFUL! The best part? It comes like this! Already pleated and sewn! It also comes in 4 fabulous colours, Pear Pizzazz, Riding Hood Red, Blushing Bride, and Baja Breeze. You're Just My Type Valentine

Shocking I know, but I'm hooked on this Two Tags Die for the BIG SHOT! I had quite a few different sized tags cluttering up my desk after I shot yesterday's video, so not one to waste a good thing, I got to work on a new card. :) This one uses the longer, skinnier version.

I adore the new Just My Type Stamp Set from the new Stampin' Up! 2012 Occasions Mini Catalogue. You may remember that I grieved the loss (ok, retirement) of the Puns from the Past Stamp Set last year, and the typewriter in this new set is EVEN BETTER than the one from this previous set! AND, it has a bunch of sentiments to go with it! I knew Stampin' Up! wouldn't let me down!

Another fun thing? Faux typewriter keys! Easy peasy to make too! Just stamp your letters in White Craft Ink onto Basic Black cardstock, punch out with your circle size of choice, and cover generously with crystal effects. Allow for lots of dry time, and voila! Faux typewriter keys! FUN!

It's official, I'm spoiled! My creative friends have showered me with handmade Christmas cards this season and I have two more to share with you.

This first one is from Rose who is quite possibly one of the sweetest people I know. She is so thoughtful. I can't wait to see her again at Leadership in San Antonio! The countdown is on!

More Christmas Cards

Lucky ducks we were here at our house! Christmas day was filled with love, laughter, relaxation, oh...and of course great food! My husband spoiled me, as usual, with a Christmas dinner fit for a Queen. I do recommend marrying a Chef ladies, IF you can put up with the many many years of him never being at home. We are lucky to have surpassed those years and are now enjoying as much time together as two people could possibly stand. It's fabulous! :)

So I do have a few more Christmas cards to share from my friends. The first one is from my friend Kristine. That snowman is so cute! Thanks Kristine!

So of all the Christmas cards I made this year, can you believe that I didn't send any? It's awful I know. So yesterday I mentioned that my friends are very creative, and today I have the pleasure of sharing with you the Christmas card I received from yet another imaginative gal, my friend Morgan. I love all the sparkly beautiful details on her card. The Silver Glimmer Paper and the Basic Rhinestones are a nice festive touch. Are you wondering what colour that embossing powder is? It's the new Pewter! So pretty!

So the countdown is really on. With today being Christmas Eve, I really hope you're done all your shopping! I still have to do the wrapping...

Neighbor Gifts

Every year there are a group of neighbors that exchange home made gifts. Last year I was on my way to Las Vegas after working many many days straight and was embarrassed to exchange a DVD and microwave popcorn. I know, horrifying. So this year I thought I better make up for last year with a selection of baked goods for each household. My Digital Studio came to my rescue as well for some quick and easy tags for each item, as well as a postcard for the outside of the packaging. I used the Very Merry Twenty-Five Designer Tags Download. At only $4.95 it was well worth the price! And the best thing about digital downloads? You order them and then download them instantly for immediate use!

I simply printed them off and cut them out! Can't get much easier than that!

And the finished product I'll packaged for delivery...

Stitched Stockings Christmas Card

I'm very lucky to have VERY creative friends! So although I make tons and tons of cards all year long, I get lovely hand made cards in return at Christmas. This card is from my friend Angela and her family. Angela was one of the first people I met in our neighborhood when we moved in, the first person to invite me to a Stampin' Up! party, and now she's one of my downline! Crazy!

I really really love this card she made. It has so many little details that make it beautiful. The stitching around the edge is so pretty, and those mini jingle bells are adorable! Thanks Angela, I love it!

Movie / Popcorn Gift Card Holder

My husband has always loved to watch movies. His Dad is a big fan of old westerns, so movies were always playing in his house as a child. As he grew up, movies became fond memories of home, especially now since he lives so so so far from his family. I always fill my husband's stocking with lots and lots of gift cards to his favourite stores, and this year is no different, so he'll be receiving this gift card to go to the movies.

I'm not the type to give a gift card without a custom made gift card holder, so I made this popcorn bucket to hold his movie gift card. I hope he likes it!

I'm thinking these will have to make it onto the craft fair to do list for next year. It just turned out way too cute!

My Stampin' Up! Decorating

After being a demonstrator for nearly three years I have come to a fabulous realization, Stampin' Up! causes one to decorate! I have always been HUGE into decorating for the seasons anyways, but since becoming a demonstrator I have added a new type of decorations, the Stampin' Up! ones! Year after year I create class samples and project ideas that end up adding to my seasonal decorations. I love it! This year I have my NOEL blocks from 2009 and my Village of Cuteness from 2011 Convention on a shelf in my kitchen. I also have my 2009 Advent Calendar displayed as well as many other much loved projects of the past three years. A decorated house at Christmas, what a lovely side effect of being a demonstrator!

Stamp Club Gifts

Every Christmas I give the ladies in my Stamp Club a little Christmas gift to thank them for being a part of the group. This year I fell in love with the Velvet Ribbon in the Holiday Mini Catalogue, so I thought that would make the perfect gift! And you can't see it in the picture, but they got a strip of the rhinestones as well. It's just something small, but I really hope they like it.

What I think is a bit of a show stealer here is the gift tag! I made them using My Digital Studio! I have made quite a few things this season as gifts and tags using the program, but I'll have to wait to share those until after those gifts have been given.

I can't believe Christmas is only one week away! I have LOTS more baking to do! Yesterday we did the savory scones, crackers, breads, and snacks. Today it's cookies cookies cookies!

The five stacks on the left are made with the Beau Chateau DSP and the four stacks on the right with the Spice Cake DSP. I'm loving the flowers that are made with the Fun Flowers Die too! Oh, and that owl! I will never be tired of that little cutie!

December Stamp Club Projects

So did I have you confused too? I guess the other day when I posted a little blurb about how much fun I had at Stamp Club some people thought that the project I showed that day (the Pencil Box and Card) was from our club meeting. Nope! This month was ALLL about the Shaker Frames! I seriously cannot get enough of these things! I love thinking of new cards and scrapbook pages I can use them on. I think they'd be super cute on a New Year's page with glitter and stars inside too! Here's some close ups of the shakers we did:

The snowmen from the Holiday Lineup stamp set looks cute and frosty with a sprinkling of Mica Flakes and Silver Glass Glitter.

It's easy to create a heart shaped shaker with the Full Heart Punch. Just cut your largest shaker frame in half and wrap it around the edge of your punched out window!

My favourite card of the day was this vintage gumball machine made using the Something Sweet stamp set. With the right colour choices and a little bit of sponging a 'regular' stamp set can take on some vintage flair!

Yesterday I had my Stamp Club ladies over for our December meeting. Wow! What a fun group! I know I say this all the time, but the friendships that Stampin' Up! has brought me are the most rewarding part of my job. We laughed until we cried over crazy stories about everything from in-laws to epic crash and burn moments. Thank you ladies, I had a blast! I really needed a good laugh. And know what's totally awesome? I get to do it all again tonight with another group of Stamp Club ladies! This job is the best.

So before I blab on and on and on, I better fill you in on today's project. It is totally cased from Karen Thomas. She made this cute pencil box and card that was just too cute not to copy 100%. Thanks Karen! Great project!

Owl Calendar & Notebook

I've had a lot of fun over the last week or so creating items for two custom orders I've been working on. The Scentsy order is nearly complete and for the last couple of days I've been working on the order for an assortment of items for my customer to give as gifts. It's so fun working with people to interpret projects they envision and then to be able to bring them to life for them.

These Magnet Calendars and Notebooks have gone through a few stages of revisions, and each one is beautiful in it's own way, but this version is most certainly the winner for me and my customer! Everything about that little owl is just so darling!

Pines and Poinsettias Card

You may remember this Christmas purse I posted a few weeks ago, but what's a purse without a matching card?!? I used the same Pines and Poinsettias stamp set, which I am falling totally in LOVE with! It's weird, for some reason this stamp set really wasn't doing anything for me, but once I got it all inky and started creating we were fast friends! I've been using it like crazy now! Those pinecones look so pretty, and the sentiment is just so dainty. LOVE IT!

My friend Kristy is a Director with Scentsy and she and members of her team have been spreading the Scentsy love, big time! Her team has had a lot of promotions over the past few weeks, so she asked me to create some cards she can send to acknowledge their hard work and dedication. I used the Workshop Words stamp set that all demonstrators who attended Convention received, as well as some retired star punches. Keeping in true Scentsy spirit I used Perfect Plum and Certainly Celery. I love how they turned out!

Magnetic Calendars

Yesterday I was working to create some custom magnetic calendars for one of my customers to give as Christmas gifts this year. They're perfect for when you want to acknowledge someone with a small gift during the holidays. It got me thinking that I should really make some of these for the craft fairs I go to next year. I think they'd be a hot seller!

The owl one was inspired by another stamper, and I'm not sure who. My customer sent me a picture of something she liked and then I did some re-creating. So if you know who made it, let me know and I'd like to give the creator a big thank you.

Decorated Notebooks & Pens

I have one last craft fair of the season this Saturday at the New Brighton Community Centre. It's been very busy for me this year, but I wouldn't have done it much differently (except for having more time on my hands!). I have met SO many lovely people at each of the fairs I have been to, and that's the best part of all.

I have a few of these decorated notebooks with matching pens that I'll have on my table this weekend. They sold out at the previous fairs I had, so I thought I better make up a few more. They're an expensive, so I'm sure that's why they're so popular.

Christmas Purses

A while ago I made a version of this same purse for a Diwali celebration. I knew when I made them then that I'd be making a Christmas version, so here's what I've come up with! I can't decide which one I like better! I think the pine cone from the Pines & Poinsettias stamp set is just so pretty when it's coloured using the Stampin' Write Markers.

The reindeer in the Holiday Line Up stamp set looks SO darling on this one!

And that Silver Glimmer paper makes for some beautiful snow!

Chocolate Bar Snowmen

Last weekend at the craft fair I had these little chocolate bar snowmen for sale. They are completely sold out, but I just had to share them anyways! Being a Pastry Chef (although I do consider myself somewhat retired, or at least 'on a break') I have a 'thing' for recipe boxes. I have always had a unique recipe box at each place I have been employed, often switching them up when I started at a new job. So when I saw the Card Keepers in the Holiday Mini Catalogue, all I could think about was making a new recipe box, for home, my new place of employment. :)

Starbucks Gift Card Holders

When I was in Edmonton at the Stampin' Up! Regional event I got a really great swap card that was a coffee cup. So wheels got turning and my friend Kristine made the template for this Starbucks gift card holder. Being the Starbucks junkie that I am, I KNEW I was going to make a bunch of these to sell at all the craft fairs I am attending this season. Just pull up on the 'lid'...

and your gift card fits right inside! And the Melon Mambo embossed lipstick marks are such a fun touch! I just love how these turned out! They were a hot seller at the craft fair last weekend, so I'm sure they'll be popular this weekend at the Cardinal Newman Craft Fair as well. Come by and visit me!

November Stamp Club

After nearly a week in bed I'm finally feeling human again. I'm so sorry to have abandoned my blog last week, but I couldn't even get out of bed to eat let alone sit at the computer and type. I'm happy to report that I am feeling MUCH better and will be back to posting now. :)

So just as this icky sickness was taking hold I had my November Stamp Club meeting. As always it was lovely to see the ladies and do some creating. This month I showed them how to unmount their wheel stamps so they can use them as individual images. You get A LOT of stamps this way without spending much money, always appreciated leading up to the holidays! So on our technique page we used a sentiment that was taken from the Jolly Jingles Jumbo Wheel.

And of course I had to show using a wheel, as well, a wheel! Here we used the Stitches wheel for our baby card. Oh, and check out those booties! They're made with the Stitched Stockings stamp set and matching punch! This baby isn't just for Christmas!

And last, but certainly not least, is the ultra fabulous builder wheels! I am IN LOVE with these builder wheels! Making a background paper takes only seconds!

Sooooo sick....

Hello all. Sorry for the lack of posts on my blog this week. I've been very sick with a sore throat, body aches, and fever/chills and today is the first day I actually made it out of bed. I'm thinking after another good night of sleep I'll be feeling somewhat human again. So I'll be back to posting as soon as I can. October Stamp Club Projects

So here I am about to wrap up my November Stamp Club, and I just realized that I forgot to post the projects from my October Club! Whoops! October was ALLLLL about the fabulous Spice Cake line of products from Stampin' Up! I am super duper in love with everything about it. The colour palette, the patterns, the co-ordinating stamp set...yep, everything!

Our technique was Faux Mother of Pearl. It's hard to see in this photo, but this is a really really easy technique that adds some great WOW factor.

Next up is an adaptation of a card that was presented at the Edmonton Regional Event. A pretty little pocket on the outside of the card that has three gift tags inside. It's a card and a present all in one! That petite pocket die is a must have!

And last but certainly not least is this Christmas card. That Spice Cake stuff isn't just for fall! I think it makes a stunning Christmas card. Thanks Jan Tink for the inspiration on this one.

If you can believe it, in seven short weeks Christmas will be over! So if you haven't started your Christmas cards you better get moving! And of course I'm here to help! The final Christmas Card Class of 2012 will be announced this week!

Carrots, and beets, and beans, and cauliflower OH MY!

There is nothing as tasty as home grown vegetables. My family in Edmonton all have beautiful big pieces of property where they grow lots and lots of veggies, so last weekend when we were up there we loaded up with the last of the season leftovers and headed back to Calgary.

Garden fresh carrots have got to be THE best thing around. And my Auntie Susie always makes these AMAZING spicy pickled carrots, so this year we thought we would give it a try. Well, one thing I learned is that no matter how crappy you are feeling (and I was and still am feeling very under the weather) the veggies will wait for no one. When it's time to process them, it's time, and you better be ready!

After many many hours of peeling and chopping we have 9 jars beets, 5 jars cauliflower, 4 jars beans, and 13 jars carrots! That's 31 litres of pickled yummies! Now the hard part will be letting them sit and pickle before cracking into the jars!!!!

I hope you had a productive weekend and enjoyed one extra hour of sleep (don't forget to turn your clock back!). I've got my Stamp Club ladies coming today and my house is STILL decorated for Halloween so I better get moving. This whole being sick thing has really messed up my week! I don't have time to lay around feeling crappy!

Sock Monkey Cake

This Sunday I had the absolute pleasure of creating a Sock Monkey Cake for my friend Shannon's baby shower (I told you I got a lot accomplished this weekend!). Beautiful little James was born three weeks ago and I will tell you that he's going to be a heartbreaking ladies man! What a cutie!!!

So remember yesterday when I said I'd been busy? Are you starting to believe me? These 200 Christmas tags are just a portion of the custom order I had been working on over the past week. The above picture is a mid way progress shot. And check out how awesome they look all completed and packaged!

Bright & Blingy

I've been busy. Like up all night working kind of busy. So sorry it's been so quiet on my blog, but with all that work comes lots of pictures to share of what I've done. :) So I'll be back to posting like regular! Thanks for sticking with me and still stopping in. :)

First up, I just HAVE to share these purses! I made 24 of these bright and blingy babies for a custom order for an Indian Diwali celebration. I am SO pleased with how they turned out. Now my mind is spinning on more designs. You'll be seeing these re-invented and looking Christmas-y sooner rather than later I'm thinking!

Inside each purse is three 3 x 3 notecards and envelopes. They are all double embossed just like the purse too! SO much embossing, but SO worth it! I think these will be making a big impact at the Diwali celebration!

Christmas Tags

So have you ever noticed the selection of Cellophane Bags on pg. 181 of the catalogue? They're kinda hiding, but once you find them and get some you'll be addicted! I have been putting everything in these little babies, including Christmas tags! I made up these little packages of tags for a customer recently and now I'm making up little bags of tags like crazy! These ones use the Easy Events stamp set, PERFECT for tags for all occasions. Oh, and my other addiction? Those mini clothespins! I'm putting them on everything! So if you want some you better order them sooner rather than later! I think I'm cleaning out the warehouse!

Baby Shower Favors & Thankyous

I am so thrilled to share with you some more of the baby shower creations. There is most certainly a theme here, so the baby onesie and elephant are repeated over many of the projects. The little milk carton favors will be placed at each guest's location at the table so they can have a little memento of the day. I think they turned out just adorable! They will be great filled with chocolate, candies, nuts, you name it! And those little clothespins make everything look so super cute!

And then after the shower, the parents-to-be have some co-ordinating thank you cards to send to their guests. I just love that the thank you cards will be a reminder of the decor that was at the shower. Such a nice touch!
